Bachelor of Arts in Dance

Bachelor of Arts in Dance

SF State offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance, with emphases in either Performance & Choreography or Musical Theater. Technique classes are chosen from among Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and a variety of ethnic dance options. A minimum of 45 units in dance are required for the major. A placement audition is required, but it is only for the purpose of starting you out in the correct level classes - it will not affect your acceptance into the program.

The BA in Music is a liberal arts degree with music as the major area of study. It requires about 50 units of music classes. The BA has emphasis areas in Classical Music, Jazz/World Music studies, and Electronic Music. An audition is required for admittance into the BA in Music.

The BM degree is a rigorous music curriculum similar to a conservatory program. With 72-73 credits in the music department, the Bachelor of Music emphases include Classical Performance, Composition, Jazz, History & Literature, and Music Education (BME). An audition is required for admittance into the Bachelor of Music program.
