Alissa Walters Deeter coordinates voice and opera at SF State with responsibilities that include private voice, vocal literature, vocal pedagogy, and opera workshop. An active performer, she has sung with many of America’s foremost opera companies, singing numerous opera and operetta standards. She also keeps an active recital schedule and is a founding member of the Centraline Trio.
Dr. Deeter is a certified massage therapist interested in the study of proprioception and kinesiology and is a leader in innovative body-awareness techniques for singers. She has been published in the Journal of Singing and is a regular presenter for the University of California – San Francisco Medical Center National Voice Conference. She is in demand for workshops, lectures and master classes and has taught across the country.
